Home stay provides the traveller the highs and lows of Kerala at incredibly low prices. Kumbalangy is surrounded by backwaters. A ring of Chinese fishing nets literally encircle the island –village bearing witness to the rich aquatic life. An array of mangroves separate land from water providing a breeding ground for prawns, crabs, oysters and small fishes. The village which is 16 Sq.Km .in area is home to fishermen, farmers, labourers, toddy tappers and coir spinners all alike.
Kumbalanghi is declared as the first model fisheries and tourism village of India which has its own tradition and culture. 9.50 am Visit Crab farm
10.15 am Watching coir yarn making
10.30 am Watching coconut leaves weaving
10.45 am Visiting the agriculture farm (about 12 acres) and see different type of plantations (coconut, betel nuts, pepper, jack fruit, nut meg, anthurium, orchids, vanilla etc.), water harvesting ponds and biogas plants.
11.15 am Watching Chinese fishing nets

• Boating on the backwaters in a country boat & fishing with the local fishermen.
• Cycling through the surrounding countryside.
• Visit the Chinese fishing nets (maybe try your hand also at fishing along with the local fisher men).
• Watch the toddy-tappers at work (maybe try out the toddy).
• Visit the nearby coir making facility at the village.
• Learn about crab farming and prawns farming.
• Birding.
• Visit the 350 year old Nalukettu house( ancient Keralan architectural style) where a traditional Kerala    Hindu family resides and visit the kavu (sacred grove) with its snake god .
• Hand-made cloth weaving using the traditional 'Charka'.
• Keralan Cuisine Cooking programmes conducted on special request .
